Jerry was first licensed in 1968, beginning his real estate career as a sales agent for a home builder in Cobb County. Upon earning a BBA in Real Estate from Georgia State University in 1971, he also passed the State Brokers’ exam. It was also in 1971 that his career expanded from residential sales to many other facets of real estate.
His career path included:
- Portfolio Manager for three different apartment owners, the last being the largest apartment owner in Atlanta at the time.
- Portofolio Manager in the international real estate department for Atlanta’s largest commercial bank, which included discretionary responsibility for industrial, office and retail facilities throughout the Southeastern United States. It was during this period that he earned his MBA in Finance at Georgia State University.
- Regional Manager and General Partner for an international real estate company whose focus was the purchase and management of “trophy” properties across the U.S. on behalf of both domestic and foreign institutional clients. Jerry was head of acquisitions for the Southeastern U.S. and Portfolio Manager for one of the “Baby Bell” companies with properties located from California to New York. He also managed the Atlanta office that had grown to 80+ employees by his departure in 1998. Properties acquired in the Atlanta area during this tenure included Cumberland Mall, One Atlantic Center (the “IBM” Tower), One Atlanta Plaza, 100 Galleria, Three Ravinia and Lakeside Commons.
- Shortly after forming RE Associates, LLC in 1998, Jerry’s focus returned to residential real estate, both as an investor and as an active broker. He became an active investor in foreclosed properties in Cherokee County, both independently and with financial partners. This led to hands-on experience in many of the construction trades. He is also qualified as a HUD broker, thus availing his clients to a wide range of properties with investment potential including starter homes for users.
Cheryl received her real estate license in 1977, but her career in real estate actually began in 1972 as Resident Manager for a 76-unit apartment project in Cobb County. From there she graduated to a 228-unit apartment complex. Her degree in Psychology from Georgia State University and background in credit investigation (Financial Analyst – Dun & Bradstreet) served her well in the many challenges facing an apartment manager. Her residential real estate sales experience dates to being licensed in 1977.
As a team with 50 years of Real Estate experience, Jerry and Cheryl handle all real estate transactions with competence and professionalism with emphasis always on the individual needs of their client.
